Our Top 4 Hair Hacks for Healthy Hair

Self-care and looking after yourself comes in many different shapes and forms. Whether you’re caring for your skin, nails, mental health or fitness, all of them are just as important as each other. There is one element of self-care that can sometimes be forgotten about and that is – haircare. I’m sure most of us try our best to have a good hair day every day, but sometimes that comes with a price of rushed hair washing and intense heat styling. These take a toll on our hair’s health and can result in dry, weak, wiry hair instead of the lush, shiny and bouncy locks that we all truly want.

We have put together seven of our most favourite hair care tips to get your hair to the healthiest it’s ever been.

  1. Avoid Going to Bed with Wet Hair

It can be confusing this tip because most would assume that allowing the hair to air dry and avoiding the hot hair dryer is good for it, right? Well, here’s the tea…going to bed with your hair still wet can lead to extensive damage. When your hair is wet, it is in its weakest state, making it much easier to break whilst being yanked by a pillowcase as you move around in the night. We recommend investing in a microfibre hair towel, it’ll suck the moisture straight out of your hair.

  1. Don’t Forget Your Scalp!

We all know that health and beauty come from within, well…this also applies to your hair! Applying hair care from the very base of the root and focusing on clearing dead skin, product build up and excess oil, refreshes the base and preps the rest of your hair for product penetration. For best results, we recommend a scalp scrub treatment to be massaged into the scalp and repeat this approximately two times a month!

  1. Be Gentle!

There have been countless times where I have caught myself in the act of yanking the life out of my hair when brushing it. Brushing your hair vigorously can quite literally rip it out from the root and further down damage each strand further down the shaft. To avoid this from happening we recommend starting to brush from the ends and moving the brush strokes upwards. But remember…be gentle!

  1. Use Products Effectively

It’s easy to get a little bit excited with any sort of product. From shampoo to hydrating oils, it’s just so much more fun pouring the whole bottle out into the palm of your hand. But stop right there! You would be surprised by how little product you need for it to be effective on your hair. Most formulas only require you to use about a ten-cent piece amount. It may seem scarce but take the time to work it into your hair and I promise it’ll lather each strand nicely.

There are so many more things you can do to cherish your beautiful locks, but we will save that for another day.

Don’t forget to take your vitamins, drink lots of water and love the sh*t out yourselves because you’re beautiful! x
